Frequently asked questions.

How do I place an order?

Click “Develop & Scan” here or in the menu bar of our site and select the services you’d like. Then indicate what kind of film (film size, film color, scan resolution, sprocket scanning, etc.) and add your order to your cart. Once you are done, use the below instructions to send your film to our lab!

I ordered, how do I get my film to you?

Thank you for supporting our small business! We currently are only receiving orders by mail. Please include a copy of your receipt with your film so we can accurately label it once it arrives to the lab (we wouldn’t want someone else getting your pictures!). You can mail film to:

Red Lantern Studios, LLC

552 E Carson St

STE 104-431

Carson, CA 90745

United States of America

How long until I get my order?

During our normal season, you can expect development in 3-5 days and scans 1-3 days after that. Time estimates start once your film has arrived at our facility and is checked in by our team.

How do I get my scans?

Once your film is processed and scanned, you’ll receive an email from WeTransfer with a download link. Your images will be available for download for a maximum of 7 days.

Can I push/pull my film?

It’s coming soon, we promise! We are as excited to offer these services as you are looking forward to using them, but we want to make sure they’re done right!

What is your negative return policy?

We cut and store your negatives in PrintFile binder sleeves. We will ship your negatives back to you within the week after development (or scanning if you ordered those services) is complete.

Can you scan sprockets?

Yes we can! We love the creative ways y’all use your film to it’s fullest extent, whether that’s using the sprockets and edge markings as part of your photographic story or exposing the full width of your film and incorporating the sprocket holes as parts of your image. We’d love to capture that in our scans!

We charge an extra $5 for “sprockets” scanning to account for extra labor and time. Please order with the sprockets add-on and label the rolls you would like to be scanned with sprockets.

Do you develop souped film?

Yes we do! Souped film can bring another creative dimension to your photography and we’re all for helping you bring it to life! Souped film can seriously mess up chemicals as well as other people’s films so we develop souped films individually to avoid contaminating other people’s film while letting the entire soupy glory of your film shine! Please include information on what your film was souped with so we know how to properly handle your film.

We charge an extra $5 for souped film to account for the extra labor, time, and chemicals. Please order with the souped add-on and label your souped rolls. Unlabeled/mislabeled souped rolls may incur an additional fee if they cause damage to other film/lab equipment.

Please be aware that souping is highly experimental, physically alters the emulsion of the film, and is dependent on many variables. This could result in barely any visible effects, the soupy magic of your dreams, or a completely fried roll (we know it sucks 😭 we’ve been there too!). This means we cannot guarantee results on the appearance of your images on souped rolls.
